MOST RARE IN THE GENERAL POPULATION - THE LATERAL THINKER
Critical thinking is primarily concerned with judging the truth value of statements and seeking errors. Lateral thinking is more concerned
with the movement value of statements and ideas. A person would use lateral thinking when they want to move
from one known idea to creating new ideas. There are four types of "thinking tools" defined in Edward de Bono's Lateral
Thinking: The Power of Provocation manual:[1]
Idea generating tools that are designed to break current thinking patterns - routine patterns, the status quo
Focus tools that are designed to broaden where to search for new ideas
Harvest tools that are designed to ensure more value is received from idea generating output
Treatment tools that are designed to consider real-world constraints, resources, and support" (Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lateral_thinking)
KEVIN R BECK
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
In the seventies Kevin Beck began creating, and implementing,
complex strategies for well known Australian enterprises both public and private. Many of these activities have been reported in the media,
and in professional journals, and have been the subject of
discussion in boardrooms, and government agencies, here in Australia and internationally. They have contributed to the shaping of future outcomes, in terms of industry, society and commerce.
Among this life work is the winning contracts, and reshapng of enterprises, contributing, $AUD3,200,000,000 to business over the past twenty years, not including the multiplier effects into commerce, industry and the wider community.Activities such as
the privatisation of the Victorian pwoer industry or the growth of
William Angliss Institute of Tafe (Victoria) and its activities in placing thousands of unemployed into careers.
Beck has worked, with multidisplinary teams, to manage existing businesses, often creating new ones generating millions in revenues.
You may have been impacted by, had exeperience of or be aware of some of these activities. What you may not be aware of is the extent and the drivers.

- Levelling the playing field:
What do you do when big business dominates your patch and you are pushed into the background?
Example: On behalf o aclient dwarfed by competing interests, Professional Managers and Associates undertook a deep research programme and offered a compromise to the major competitor, to the key players (CSIRO and governments) but was rejected.
Kevin Beck then devised, and implemented, national and international
competition, and positioning strategy, including global representations in the UK,
Switzerland, Germany, Canada and the United States, on behalf of our client. Meetings with corporations, magnesium interests, financiers and governmet agencies.
Global distribution of multiple analysis papers on competing magnesium technologies. Economic analysis, critiques and assessments of the risks,
and merits, of the
Australian government light metals, and magnesium, strategy were distributed in Australia and internationally to bankers, investors, technologists, scientists, governments and the media.
Kevin Beck wrote to government committees, state, and federal parliamentary members highlighting the inherent risks where governments engaged in
"picking winners."
Assessing who are the competitors, in any industry segment, including hidden ones, and
what are their likely capabilities and abilities to impact?
Beck then undertook an assessment of the future of magnesium in Australia and globally as a business venture on behalf of the client.
This assessment lead to a conclusion at odds with the experts, and with government agencies. Subseqently PMA's client withdrew
from magnesium, and light metals, investment in Australia and internationally, well before before the
collapse
of the Australian government strategy. A strategy underpinned by CSIRO, and the advice and assurances of
large business interests.
Most notably the support for the high profile major project in Queensland championed by the Australian, and Queensland, governments -
Australian Magnesium.
The LMAA as it was known was quietly passed to CSIRO, to be lodged within their flagship light metals programme.
